Nature lovers have the opportunity to "get up close and personal" with many species of wildlife including birds, butterflies, and perhaps even a glimpse of the Ferruginous Pygmy Owl.

Friday, October 24th

Salt Lakes     7:00 am 

Salt Lakes ….. located west of Raymondville.  These South Texas salt lakes have played a prominent role in the history of South Texas . and have attracted people to the area for centuries. as a valuable source of salt for native people, Spanish explorers and western pioneers.  Managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, birdwatchers from around the world visit the lakes to view the diversity of wildlife and rare species. This site has been nominated as a Site of International Significance for shorebirds due to the population of the long-billed curlews. This is a hiking tour.

Rancho Cruz Verde     5:30 pm

Located North of Raymondville this tour will offer an opportunity to see wildlife such as deer, armadillo, javaline, turkey, and more.

Saturday, October 25th

La Chata Ranch     7:00 am

Winding roads lead you to a nature extravaganza.  A birding and wildlife tour offers a glimpse of some of the exotice animals in the area.  Attox, nilgai, and other species of wildlife and birds can be spotted at this ranch.

The Hunke Ranch     11:00 aM

The Hunke Ranch will offer a look at our unique ranch habitat.  This tour will take you to a ranch that practices ranch preservation and native habitat restoration.  The Hunke's have an exotic wildlife breeding program and have expended tremendous time and energy to add a spectrum of eco-systems to their ranch.  They are participants in many practices and projects that assist with wildlife and ranch preservation. Unique ranch habitat conservation and ranch preservation have been practiced here for years.  Exotic wildlife breeding programs are also an important part of the ranch.

Corbett ranch     4:30 pm

The Corbett Ranch….. The Corbett Ranch is located west of Raymondville and  extends to the Salt Lakes giving endless opportunities for wildlife viewing including an array of shore birds.  Located on a rise at the highest point of Willacy County, festival guests are in for an unusual treat with the birding and wildlife viewing that will be made available to them as they visit the ranch hunting lodge and witness a beautiful view of the lake. The Corbett Ranch is located the highest point of Willacy County, making this tour one of great interest.
